Ugh. I don't know what is going around, but I have it. I woke up with the right side of my throat hurting and every time I swallow it feels like someone is stabbing me in my right ear with a pair of scissors. Yuck.
For Thanksgiving I went five hours north with the BF to spend the holiday with his family. When we got to the cabin at 12:30 on Wednesday night (Thursday morning) we found our air mattress in the living room and his grandparents waiting for us. We chatted with the Grandparents for a bit and then finally got under the covers to go to sleep. I was so cold I think I woke up every hour. I tried to scoot as close to the BF as possible, but nothing helped. Then, the mattress started going flat. Every time I got situated, I ended up sliding over the the BF's side of the mattress. This did not make for a good night's sleep, which I suspect may be part of the reason I am now sick.
The next morning we were woken up bright and early by the Aunt. The Aunt is great, I always have a good time with her. Plus, she got us a room in a hotel for the remaining two nights. The BF was tired and complaining about the sleeping arrangements, so the Aunt let us get in her bed to sleep for a few more hours. I woke up the BF at 10:00 because it seemed rude to sleep in with his family in the kitchen, cooking us breakfast.
When we finally made it out of bed and got done brushing our teeth, it was time to meet the Mom. Remember that I just met the Dad a few months ago, so obviously the BF doesn't see his folks much.
We spent the rest of the day sitting around, fighting over what channel to watch on TV, napping, and stoking the fire. Every time we left the house the BF wanted to go "off-roading" in his SUV, through the snow. We found a snow-mobile trail and drove down that a few times. Every ditch and patch of grass on the side of the road was fair game.
Friday we were made to get dressed and go outside in the snow. The BF lasted about ten minutes while I hung around outside with his dog for a bit, before turning back myself. When we came back in I got all bundled up under the covers and took a nap, until everyone else came back in. We hung out for a little while until the BF was bored out of his mind and wanted to get on the hotel's computer.
We claimed the computer for a few hours and finally got most of the planning for our Belize trip out of the way. I tried to help my dad buy a GPS for my mom over the phone. This was probably the most interesting thing we did all weekend.
Saturday morning we got up and headed to the cabin to say our good-byes. As bored as the BF was all weekend, I actually had a good time hanging out with his family. I think they're funny and interesting and fun to talk to. I've always felt very relaxed and welcomed around them. I guess it's different when it's not your family.
Saturday I was extremely tired, probably because I was getting sick, and went to bed around 11:30. Sunday, I went to Target and got stuff to decorate the BF's apartment for Christmas. I don't think he was all that excited, but I spend at least five nights of my week there, so I wanted to decorate. I got a little tree and we put ornaments on it. Next weekend we get to decorate a gingerbread house. The BF can hardly contain his excitement.

Your weekend sounded like mine, right down to the getting sick part. Anyway....gingerbread houses. I'm so jealous!
I hope you get well soon. I hate being sick.
BTW, onions were in the turkey.
Get well
Get well soon
We wish you to get well...
Did you take pictures of the snow? We had like five flurries here Monday :-/
I used to get colds at least a couple times a year in my college days, but rarely do now. In some ways, I miss it. It always felt so good to spray Chloraseptic on my sore throat and then sleep for a couple hours.
Mandy: I will definitely take lots of pics! I think I'm getting a new camera for Christmas, so hopefully there will be lots of pics in the future!
J: It makes the holidays so much better, and more tolerable! I'm sure you will have someone great to spend the holidays with soon.
Brian: Ugh, thanks. I think my whole office has whatever it is!
Trixie: Don't think the BF is too excited about the gingerbread house, but I'm gonna make him get in the holiday spirit, dammit!
hotpinksox: Ohhh, THAT'S what it was! Very clever!
Bone: Thank you very much! I posted some pictures for your enjoyment.
Thomas: I, too, was constantly sick in college. It's gotten better, but obviously I am not immune.
Sounds like a great Thanksgiving! I hope you get some rest and feel better.
