Back From New York

Shit has hit the fan at work. It is so crazy right now, and not just with the usual stuff. My first job has taught me a lot about working for the man - who to sleep with, how to get ahead, etc. My principles are strong enough that I would never fall into a trap like that, but I guess it's all part of the experience working in corporate America.

Since it would be a very bad idea for me to go further into that topic, I'll tell you about my latest trip to New York.

Last week was my third trip to New York since my boss got promoted, and it looks like it's going to go like this for some time. I don't mind going every other month, it's the once a month that gets to be a lot. Basically, when I'm there I go to appointments all day and then people who are trying to impress me take out to eat at fancy places. It can be stressful, but at the end of the day, it's pretty fun.

Monday night I ate at Atlantic Grill on the upper east side. It was really good, great spice tuna rolls. Didn't stay out too late Monday night, but I couldn't wait until Tuesday, Election Day!

Tuesday night I went to the Strip House with a few other girls. Me and one of the girls were Obama fans, the other three people at the table voted for McCain. We had a really good time eating, drinking, and debating while we checked the iPhone every half hour to get the results. After, one of the girls and I went to meet my old boss at Philippe for a drink. While we were there Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Wesley Snipes all came in at separate times. The Charlotte Bobcats were playing the Knicks the next night, and half of the team was there, as well. I finally made it back to my hotel to watch the election results just as they were announcing Obama's win. Hundreds of people poured into Times Square to watch on the big screen. Cars were driving around honking their horns like someone had just won a championship. It was unbelievable. Words can't even describe how I felt.

Wednesday night I went to the Knicks game. We had third row seats and guess who sits  down two rows in front of me? Michael Jordan! I got to see him two nights in a row! I got some pretty good pictures of the side of his head. Michael Rapaport was also pretty close by, and at half time Chris Rock came over to talk to Michael, so I got a picture of him too. I felt really shameless taking pictures of those guys, but everyone else was, so it couldn't be too bad. I had a lot more fun looking for celebs than watching the game, but every time the vendor I was with would get excited I had to pretend I knew what was going on. Spike Lee was there, too, of course, but he was at the opposite end so I couldn't get a picture of him.

Thursday I had to come back, but I had a really good time there. It was really nice to get out of the office.

I'm trying to catch up on all of your blogs! I feel so out of the loop!

Gosh this makes me want to go back to New York. Last tim I was there, it was for business and it was MISERABLE. we literally ran for the car taking us to the airport. This sounds better.

I love Rapaport. He's been awesome this season on Prison Break.

I don't think you have to link Spike Lee. I want to hear more about the sleeping with bosses. It is anonymous.

I sort of miss traveling for work. I wouldn't have been nearly half the places I have been if it weren't for work.

Dude, I heard all about election night in NYC, the entire city was acting like it was Christmas, its birthday, and it had won the lottery, all in one day!
